• When will the exchange take place?
    A first one week hackathon to prepare you for the main exchange phases will take place in late spring 2018 for each universities’ students separately. The first main phase of the exchange, Palestinian students visiting Germany will take place in August 2018.
    The second phase of the exchange, German students visiting Palestine will take place end of September to end of October 2018.
  • Who can apply for the exchange?
    Apart from University of Siegen we accept applicants from: University of Cologne, TH Köln – University of Applied Sciences, University of Applied Sciences Cologne (Rheinische Fachhochschule Köln), University of Bonn, Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg (H-BRS), Folkwang University of the Arts, Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences, Goethe University Frankfurt, Hochschule Düsseldorf, Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf and Justus Liebig University Gießen. If your university is close to the above but not listed, drop us an email and we might consider it.
    Palestinian students: We can only accept applicants from Birzeit University.
    YALLAH! is open for all courses of study. Bachelor/Master/PhD students are welcome to apply.
  • How much does participation cost?
    Travel and Housing expenses are covered by the DAAD-program „Hochschuldialog mit der islamischen Welt“. 
  • Where do the participating students live in Palestine?
    Participating students from Siegen will be staying in groups of 3-4 students in regular, private apartments.
  • Where do the participating students live in Germany?
    Participating students from Palestine will be staying in dormitories or pensions.
  • Will there be social activities as part of the exchange?
    Of course. Social interaction is very important in order to allow for fruitful a socio-academic exchange.
  • Is it safe to travel to Palestine?
    It is considered relatively safe to travel to the West Bank. However, the situation is constantly changing and the coordinators of the exchange keep an eye on the development of the situation. Nobody shall be endangered by his or her participation in the exchange. Participating students are encouraged to inform themselves about the current situation in Palestine.
