YALLAH! – You All Are Hackers is an academic research hackathon, organized by the University of Siegen (Germany) and Birzeit University (West Bank, Palestine), funded by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) the program “Higher Academic Dialogue with the Islamic World”.
YALLAH!’s motivation is to enable multi-national, intercultural collaboration on social innovation. The participants will assess social issues with a grounded approach, will learn about field exploration and creative, ethnographic and innovative methods. Small teams will work on projects, hence applying methodology and will work closely with partners in each area.
YALLAH! is administered by Prof. Dr. Volker Wulf (Information Systems and New Media), University of Siegen and Prof. Dr. Iyad Tumar (Dpt .of Electrical and Computer Engineering), Birzeit University.

Timeline
The following infographic is a roadmap of next years’ program and thereafter.
A first one week hackathon to prepare you for the main exchange phases will take place in late spring 2018 for each universities’ students separately. The first main phase of the exchange, Palestinian students visiting Germany will take place in August 2018.
The second phase of the exchange, German students visiting Palestine will take place end of September to end of October 2018.
Academic Credit
For students in Business Informatics (Wirtschaftsinformatik) and Human Computer Information, participation in YALLAH! can be credited with ECTS for an internship (Praktikum). Students from other studies will get an internship certificate nonetheless, regarding academic credit though should be discussed with the respective advisors or examination boards. We will do our best to support you in the process.
Furthermore, we are working hard to provide students in Human Computer Information ECTS as an elective course (Wahlpflicht) in the module MA-HCI-B-6 “Spezielle Aspekte der HCI”.
